Date: 23 December 2021
The Church of England national team have been busy organising a Christmas Day family service for everyone and anyone to tune into and will be broadcast from our very own Diocese. The parish of St Paul’s Howell Hill, which sits right on the edge of our north-easterly boarders, has been asked to put together and host this joyful and accessible service.
The 40-minute online service will be led by St Paul’s Senior Associate Vicar, Revd Paul Dever, and include a message from Archbishop Justin Welby, carols, and input from some of the young people at St Paul’s. The Rev David Senior, Diocesan Adviser on Evangelism and Community Chaplain at St Paul’s Howell Hill, will be preaching at the service and commented:
“We are delighted that this service is being streamed into prisons on Christmas Day as well as watched by what is expected to be a large and diverse online audience, so it offers an opportunity to share the real meaning of Christmas with many who would not normally attend church.”
‘At the Heart of Christmas’ is the Church of England’s Christmas 2021 campaign theme and the service hope to help those tuning to discover – or rediscover – is #AtTheHeartOfChristmas for themselves. Whether you’re alone or with family this year, we pray that this service will bring you the joy and hope of Jesus.
“We are delighted that St Paul’s has been invited to host this service” commented Rev Paul Dever “and so hope that it will enable those watching online at this difficult time to worship and celebrate with us.”
The Church of England’s national Christmas Day family service will be available to watch online from 9am on Christmas Day here.
