Today marks the start of Thy Kingdom Come. A time when Christians around the world are invited to pray for 11 days for more people to come to know Jesus.
Now in its 8th year, this global prayer movement has grown from a dream of possibility to seeing Christians from 172 countries take part in praying for their friends, family, neighbours and colleagues to come to faith.
The encouragement to pray comes each year from the Archbishops between Ascension to Pentecost. This year that falls between the Thursday 26th May to Sunday 5th June.
During the 11 day it is hoped that those taking part will deepen their won relationship with Jesus, pray for five people to come to faith and pray that the Spirit may empower them to be effective in their witness to others.
Although the invitation comes from the Archbishops this is an invitation that goes beyond the Anglican communion with churches from over 80 denominations and traditions taking part.
Whether you’re joining Thy Kingdom Come for the first or have done it before, you can find a host of helpful resources to guide your prayers on the Thy Kingdom Come website.
Resources include videos, events, music and, of course, prayer resources, all packaged into a helpful app. There’s also activities for youth, children and places of work.
Archbishop Justin Welby says, “In praying 'Thy Kingdom Come' we all commit to playing our part in the renewal of the nations and the transformation of communities."
