App celebrates six years in the fight against modern slavery

The Safe Car Wash App has been helping in the fight against modern slavery in the UK's hand car wash sector for the last six years.

Launched by The Clewer Initiative in 2018, the app equips members of the public to report concerns about working conditions at local hand car washes.

Research carried out by Nottingham Trent University in partnership with The Clewer Initiative has highlighted that more than 90% of hand car washes are likely to be employing workers illegally, without proper pay, records, PPE or first aid measures.

Users of the Safe Car Wash App have helped to expose this unlawful and under-regulated sector but your help is still needed to eradicate modern slavery in this sector.

This story from The Clewer Initiative expands on the positive change people are making by using the app through the data they are collecting.

You could be part of the change just like Keith by downloading the Safe Care Wash App today and reporting any concerns the next time you get your car washed.
