For many, a good Christmas celebration involves friends, family, food and a good drink. Being around people and belting out a classic carol can surely only add to that Christmas cheer!
Having taken a pause last year due to restrictions, the parish of Alford and Loxwood are pleased to once again be inviting their local community to warm their hearts and their vocal cords this Christmas season for their Beer & Carols. The event is taking place at one of their local breweries, the Firebird Brewery, offering attendees to try their finest ales (and non-alcoholic options) as they join together to make a joyful – if not tuneful – noise.
Firebird’s co-founder, Richard Peters, shares the brewery’s excitement of hosting the event:
“When Rev Greg first suggested his idea for Beer & Carols in the brewery we were enormously flattered, as well a little surprised, but we said “yes” straight away. We have always worked hard to make our brewery part of the local community, and this has been a great opportunity for us to build local connections. As well as that, it is just enormous fun to be getting people enthusiastic about beer, and then raising the roof with carols! This will be our third year and we hope to do many more in future. Congratulations for Alfold and Loxwood for such a fantastic idea, and for creating such a joyous event!”
Richard isn’t the only one excited by this year’s event, Revd Greg Cushing, Vicar of Alford and Loxwood, is equally thrilled to be back in the brewery for Christmas 2021:
“This event really is one of the highlights of my year. Co-founders Richard and Bill do a great job of introducing Firebird’s beers, which unsurprisingly leads to all sorts of descants, and the large metallic fermenters almost join in with the ringing out of the carols. Altogether it’s magical and as soon as it’s over I have people trying to book tickets for the year after! Don’t miss out!”
As well as drinks and singing at the Beer & Carols, guests will also be able to hear from author, minister, international speaker and founder of Christianity Explored Ministries, Rico Tice, as he helps unpack the real meaning of Christmas.
It all takes place at Firebird Brewery on Tuesday 7th December at 7-9pm. If you wish to attend or invite your friends and family, you can download the flyer here and book tickets by emailing alflox.parish.off@btinternet.com
