We continue to share the stories behind the people who will be wearing the dog collars as we approach the annual ordination services next week.
Julie Couchman-Boor from the parish of St Martin's in Camberley will be ordained as a Deacon.
"I’ve been on my ordained ministry journey for 35 years. God’s call then was so audible and insistent that I didn’t hesitate to follow quickly and ended up as a church leader in another denomination. This was short lived and left me believing that I was a hopeless leader. God turned this hurt into passion and led me into a ministry supporting and developing leaders within a Christian Charity. However, I always felt my original calling to Church leadership was where I needed to be. It was all about timing. God finally got fed up and made it clear to me that I needed to be in the Church of England, even bringing a Bishop through a crowd to talk to me in the exact instant that I prayed for clarity. No matter which way I looked, the answers all came back to the same thing! Each door I pushed all swung open; not responding was actually harder than responding."
All are invited to celebrate and welcome the candidates at Guildford Cathedral on the weekend of 2nd and 3rdJuly. For more details, visit our ordinations page. If you feel a calling and would like to explore a path of ordination, please visit our vocations page.
