The global prayer movement, Thy Kingdom Come, invites churches and individuals to pray for more people to come to know Christ from Ascension to Pentecost.
There are a host of various ideas for you to take part in over the 11 days from 9-19 May, including the following as a starter:
- Prayer stations - these can be set up inside or outside your church building and help people focus their prayers in a variety of ways. You can order postcards and posters specifically designed for this year's Thy Kingdom Come from CPO.
- Continuous prayer - organise a day, week or 10 days of prayer (to cover the whole period of Thy Kingdom Come). Maybe join with other churches in the local area. You can find tips here.
- Pray for 5 - creative ideas of how to pray for five friends, family members or colleagues can be found here.
- Prayer walking/pilgrimage - whether locally or further afield, you could organise a wander and pray for specific places of interest on your route - schools, hospitals, town centres, etc. There's a great guide from Hope For Every Home here.
- Creative Prayer Outreach Ideas - Thy Kingdom Come makes use of resources from the Cheeky Pandas team which helps engage small children in the resources on offer. These could be used as part of a community fun day or an arts and crafts morning/afternoon.
To round off Thy Kingdom Come, we're inviting youth groups and young people from across the diocese (and beyond) to join together to worship on Pentecost Sunday (19 May) at Christs College in Guildford 4.15-6.30pm. Head to the calendar event to sign up and find out more.
