Bishop Andrew joined dozens at St Peter’s Hersham on Sunday for the launch of Love Hersham 2023 by tossing pancakes.
After a Covid break, the Love Hersham project is back, to take on a series of social action projects.
“During Lent we try to reach out to our community by running a series of events that are accessible to everyone in our community,” says the Revd Jackie Richardson, Vicar St Peter’s. “We partner with other community action groups like Hersham Centre, foodbanks, schools and others to tackle various projects like litter picking, gardening for the elderly or putting on a coffee morning for young mums. The aim is to show the Love of Christ by serving our community and everyone is welcome to join in.”
Love Hersham launched with pancake tossing after the main morning service.
“Bishop Andrew was actually rather good,” says Jackie. “He came joint second in the adult competition, out of a field of 47 competitors. We served over 150 pancakes and soft drinks to people from our local community,” she added.
