The only thing better than a winter walk is a winter walk with a purpose.
Bishops Andrew and Jo are inviting you to join them Walk the Wey to Guildford on Saturday 7 January. The walk will help the vulnerable and disadvantaged in the diocese.
This winter meander follows last year’s successful Walk the Way sponsored walk along the North Downs, which raised £4,300 for the Bishop of Guildford's Communities Fund. The fund supports parish projects across the diocese. In 2021, among other projects, it helped St Martin’s Camberley launch a community breakfast scheme and kept Andy’s Café at Goldworth Park serving the community as it recovered financially from lockdown.
So with the great excuse of walking off some of the excesses of the festive season, January’s stroll will follow the Wey Navigation towpath. Created in the mid-17th century, it offered Guildford merchants a ’super highway’ to London and is one of the oldest river navigations in the country.
There are various walk options of 6 or 12 miles?starting either in Godalming, West Byfleet or Send.?
