“In diversity, we see the richness, the beauty, of God and his gifts given to us.” Revd Alwyn Pereira
We are celebrating diversity in the church and in our diocese. Join Judah Garrison (Parish Worker at St John’s Egham), Janet Williams (Children and Families’ Pastor and Ordinand in St John’s Stoke), Revd Dr Oluwapelumi O. Adeyemi (minister supporting St Francis Westborough), Revd Alwyn Pereira (St Michael’s & The Ascension, Aldershot) as they explore how we can be the forerunners in society in celebrating and valuing each other.
Janet said: “Not only do we all have a voice, it’s an equal voice, everyone’s contribution is special to the Lord…whether you are a minister or helping out with refreshments we’re all valued in God’s house.”
Revd Dr Oluwapelumi spoke of how Bishop Andrew’s welcome, which made him feel like he was the person Bishop Andrew had been waiting for, really struck a chord and made him feel very welcome. He also spoke of how the church can be a pioneer in creating a space where diversity is celebrated and encouraged and can impact wider society.
This week, as you watch our Black History Month film on celebrating diversity, think about who you could celebrate in your church, in the diocese or in the wider church.
