The Ven Martin Breadmore
Contact the Archdeacon of Dorking
- Martin has been the Archdeacon of Dorking since November 2019.
- He first felt called to ordination at a young age, around the time he was studying for his ‘A’ Levels, but it wasn’t until he went on to further education to study Law that he responded to God’s call and met with Vernon White, the Diocesan Director of Ordinands in the Diocese of Guildford at that time.
- Martin still completed his Law degree, and then spent a year as a pastoral assistant in a church in Bath before his three years ordination training at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford.
- During that time, he married Monica, and later in 1993, they moved to Herne Bay, in Kent, where Martin served his curacy.
- From there, the couple moved to St. Paul’s Camberley, where Martin served as the Associate Minister. He then took up an incumbency at St. Patrick’s, Wallington, in Southwark Diocese, and this was where his son, Joshua was born.
- Almost nine years later the family moved to London when Martin was appointed the Kensington Area Director of Ministry in 2010.
- He enjoys walking the family’s cockapoo, Jessie J, and loves theatre, good food and gardening.
