Lay leaders

Lay ministry in its widest sense covers a huge range of roles and activities, but some of those roles need specialist training and authorisation through a licence from the Bishop.

In this section you’ll find links to explore more about those roles, the training that is available and other links and resources to support your discipleship and mission.

Training

More to help

The training, support and resources offered through the Diocese of Guildford are focused on three priorities of its vision and strategy:

Growing discipleship, including ‘everyday faith’

Everyone is called into ‘ministry’ in its widest sense, loving and serving Jesus wherever you are, in whatever you do, seven days a week. Visit the ways in which you can grow and deepen you faith in the Growing disciples pages of the site.

Growing community

Churches which successfully connect with their communities are dependent on Godly and able lay leadership. Explore the Growing community section of the site to browse lots of ways in which you can engage in wider community life and beyond.

Growing diversity

Growing in diversity is about extending the widest and warmest welcome possible as a Church, welcoming people of different ages, ethnicities, abilities and backgrounds. Explore the Growing diversity pages for ideas, inspiration and practical things you can do to support your church in this area.
